Luxurious desert resort with courtyard seating, a pool, sun loungers, and landscaped desert gardens against distant mountains.

LA QUINTA, Calif., July 17 (Palm News Online) — Meriwether Companies said it has broken ground on Coral Mountain Desert Club, a roughly 400-acre private club and master-planned development in La Quinta centered on golf, surf and about 300 homesites.

The developer said the project sits on a 384-acre parcel in the eastern Coachella Valley that it acquired in mid-2019. Meriwether described Coral Mountain as one of the last large undeveloped parcels in the Greater Palm Springs area.

The company said construction of the initial phase is underway, with the first amenities, golf course and wave basin slated for completion in 2028.

Meriwether said the development will include an 18-hole golf course designed by David McLay Kidd, a surf lagoon that the company also describes as a 4-acre wave basin, racquet sports, a pump track, a recreational lake, resort-style pools, family programming and trail access to more than 20,000 acres of adjacent public land.

The private residential community is planned for approximately 300 homesites.

Meriwether’s website says the project is in the eastern quadrant of the Coachella Valley with views of the Santa Rosa Mountains.
