REDLANDS, Calif., July 2 (Inland Empire News Online) — Demolition is underway at the former Redlands Mall in downtown Redlands after Town Square Development Group LLC bought the long-vacant property in a 2025 county-recorded transaction tied to Jack and Laura Dangermond.
City of Redlands said the company told officials it planned to start demolition the week of March 16, beginning with the former Denny’s building at the northeast corner of the site. The city said that first phase was expected to take about two weeks, followed by demolition of the larger mall building while keeping the CVS location in place.
The city’s notice said work would be done on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and could create noise in the area. It said staging would stay inside the fenced site so public parking would not be disrupted.
By mid-April, exterior demolition was visible at the southwest corner of Redlands Boulevard and Orange Street, after interior demolition had already begun in March.
San Bernardino County deed records show the transaction was recorded Nov. 5, with a documentary transfer tax of $17,325. Under California’s formula, that suggests a sale price of about $15.75 million. The county records identify Town Square Development Group LLC as the buyer.
City planning documents say the mall was built in 1977 and had been largely vacant since 2010, aside from CVS Pharmacy and some stores in the standalone retail building at Redlands Boulevard and Orange Street. The city describes the site as a chance to revitalize an under-performing property near the Downtown Passenger Rail Station, the downtown commercial core, Sylvan Park and nearby neighborhoods.
