CRESTLINE, Calif., July 24 (Inland Empire News Online) — A black bear pushed open the front door of the Crestline Village Water District office in Crestline on Wednesday afternoon and wandered through the lobby before leaving, with staff saying no one was hurt and no property was damaged.

Surveillance video from the district showed the bear standing on its hind legs to open the door around 12:15 p.m., according to office staff who described the incident to reporters. Employees said the animal stayed in the front area for about two minutes, then moved briefly into the main office before heading back out.

Staff said there were no customers in the building at the time and that no one was in danger. One employee said the bear appeared calm as it left and returned toward the woods.

The office manager said the only sign the bear left behind was a set of nose prints on the door and around the office. The district said the bear did not cause any damage.

The incident took place in the San Bernardino Mountains, where black bears are common, and was captured on the district’s surveillance video.
