INGLEWOOD, Calif., June 26 (Our Los Angeles) — Türkiye scored in the final moments to beat the United States men’s national team 3-2 in Los Angeles, but the Americans still finished Group D on top and advanced to the round of 32.

Kaan Ayhan scored the winner for Türkiye after Auston Trusty and Sebastian Berhalter scored for the U.S. Arda Güler and Barış Alper Yılmaz also scored for Türkiye in the match, which the official match report listed before 70,492 fans.

The loss was the Americans’ first of the tournament, but it did not change their knockout path. The U.S. had already secured first place in Group D before the match, with earlier wins over Paraguay and Australia.

The Americans are scheduled to play Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32 on July 1. Multiple tournament reports list Santa Clara, California, as the site of that match.
