DETROIT, June 22 (Our Michigan Times) — Chevrolet has unveiled the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500, calling it the most powerful Silverado ever and saying the full-size pickup will reach showrooms later this year with new V8 engines and a redesigned digital cabin.
- New 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter V8 engines join the lineup.
- Chevrolet says the truck will continue to offer four powertrain choices.
- Pricing is still set to be announced later this year.
In a June 16 newsroom release, Chevrolet said the 2027 Silverado 1500 adds next-generation 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter V8s while keeping the enhanced 2.7-liter TurboMax and the Duramax 3.0-liter turbo-diesel in the lineup. The company said the truck is its “most powerful Silverado ever.”
Chevrolet also said the 2027 Silverado 1500 now offers what it called the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine in its class, although it did not release horsepower, torque or full comparison details in the announcement.
The automaker said every trim will include a modern digital cockpit with a 16.3-inch center display and a 12.2-inch driver information center as standard equipment. On ZR2 and High Country models, Chevrolet said an 11.5-inch front passenger screen will be added, along with a heads-up display and rear camera mirror.
Chevrolet said the truck will be available in seven models: ZR2, High Country, Trail Boss, Silverado, Custom Trail Boss, Custom and WT. The company said the truck is expected to go on sale at the end of this year, with pricing to follow later in the year.
The company did not provide a firm on-sale date, order timing or technical specifications for the new engines in the release.
