BAHRAIN, June 27 (World Daily Times) — Bahrain said Iranian drones entered its territory on Saturday, prompting the Gulf Cooperation Council and several Gulf governments to condemn the attack and warn that it threatened regional security and peace efforts.
Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry called the strike a “flagrant threat” to the kingdom’s security and said Iran’s actions placed responsibility on Tehran for undermining peace efforts.
Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi described the attack as “treacherous” and said it would undermine efforts to preserve calm in the region. Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said the strike was a “dangerous undermining of endeavors for peace and stability” and a threat to regional security.
Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates also condemned the attack. Their foreign ministries said it violated Bahrain’s sovereignty and international law, while the UAE said it remained committed to supporting Bahrain’s safety and stability.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said on state television that it had targeted several locations of what it called “the U.S. terrorist army in the region.”
